01 · The situation

The processes that set your organisation apart live in spreadsheets, emails and the memory of a few people. Every packaged product you tried imposed its own way of working.

A business application takes your rules as they are, writes them down once, and applies them for everyone.

This will sound familiar if
  • Your key processes live in spreadsheets and emails
  • The same data is re-keyed into several tools
  • Your business rules are not written down anywhere
  • No consolidated view without a day of reconciliation
02 · Who it is for
Who it is for
  • Mid-sized companies, large enterprises and the public sector
  • Software that is critical to operations, not a side tool
  • A need nobody sells, or that vendors only half cover
  • A project budget, and senior management backing the project
Who it is not for
  • A consumer mobile app
  • A brochure website or an e-commerce site
  • A start-up prototype still searching for its market
  • A team of developers on time and materials
03 · What we deliver
What it is
  • A written scope, split into increments, each priced before it starts
  • The software in service increment by increment, judged on real-world use
  • The code, the documentation and the tests, all yours
  • Maintenance and further development afterwards, directed by you
What it is not
  • Configured packaged software
  • A mock-up that stays a mock-up
  • Time-and-materials staffing, billed by the day
  • A price quoted before your business is understood
04 · How it works
01
A thirty-minute call

Free, and no demo. We listen to your situation and tell you whether we are the right people to help. If we are not, we say so.

02
Scoping

Two to three weeks, at a price stated before we start. You receive the written scope, the breakdown into increments and a fixed price for the first one.

03
The first increment

You decide on it with the scope and the price in front of you. It goes live rather than being demonstrated, and is judged on real use before the next one begins.

04
The following increments

One increment at a time, each priced before it starts. You can stop at the end of any of them, and we can then take over maintenance.

06 · The questions we are asked
“Why not go to a software vendor?”
A vendor is the right choice when your need is the same as everyone else’s. Its roadmap is a trade-off across its installed base, and you are one customer in five hundred.
“What if you go out of business?”
The answer is not to promise you our longevity, but to make sure it is not an issue: code placed in escrow with a third party if you ask for it, documentation delivered with every increment, reversibility written into the contract, and standard, non-proprietary technologies.
“Who owns the software at the end?”
You do: the code, the documentation and the tests. Knowledge transfer is written into the contract.
“How does payment on results work?”
What will be measured, against what threshold and by what date is written into the contract. If the result is not achieved, the conditional portion is not payable.
“How much does it cost?”
The first call is free. Scoping has a price, stated before we start. The price of the first increment is fixed and given once scoping is complete: it depends on the scope, not on who is asking.
